Chandler is one of four cities participating in a puzzle tournament across multiple Arizona library systems this January.
Chandler’s Basha Library will go head-to-head against the Mesa Public Library, the Scottsdale Public Library Main Branch, and the Tempe Public Library for a competition to see who is the fastest at completing puzzles.
All of the participants will have a set time to finish an identical 500-piece puzzle. Each branch’s top team will then move on to the final round hosted at the Mesa Main Library in February.
Participants are allowed to register for a single spot at one library system, consisting of two-person teams with one person named the captain. The team captain will serve as the competition’s point of contact.
Teams will have 90 minutes to complete the first 500-piece puzzle. The top team is the one that finishes the puzzle first or has the fewest pieces left if no team completes it, with only the puzzle box allowed as a sorting tool. Tie-breakers are determined by giving each team five more minutes to continue.
Puzzle competitions like this may choose to use flyer printing to create promotional materials around the community at a low cost.
The Inter-City Puzzle Tournament is taking place on Tuesday, January 27 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Basha Library at 5990 S Val Vista Dr in Chandler.
