Mother Nature has bequeathed the Chandler area with a diverse group of native flora, and they will be the stars of the show for an afternoon of learning.
Natalija M. Kyle, who is a local clinical herbalist and holistic healthcare practitioner, will be sharing her love of herbs and other plants during a workshop that will explore the species that call the dry hot desert conditions home. Ethical foraging and harvesting will be discussed, and both in-person and virtual attendance options are available.
The participants will be introduced to the facilitator's top 12 desert plants, and they will learn whether it is best to forage for them or purchase them in a shop or online. Those who attend the class in person will be able to take part in a mini walk of the venue, and everyone will have a chance to view each of the species up close. Everyone will be treated to a cup of tea and time to meet the other learners.
At the end, registrants in the session will each receive a handout so they can keep on learning. Items like these can be crafted by Stationery printers.
Tickets for this introduction to desert plants and their uses will be held on May 21 at 1728 North Alma School Road. The ticket price starts at $35 and will go up to $45 starting on May 15.
