The New Brunswick Summer Music Festival will be returning to Fredericton this August, featuring two weeks of classical chamber music.
The festival includes community concerts at venues across the city, and culminates in four featured concerts starring some of the top classical performers in the country. This year’s Summer Music Festival is themed after the works of German master Ludwig van Beethoven and Nova Scotia composer Peter Allen. Allen will also be involved in conducting a performance by the Dalhousie Orchestra.
Other featured performers include Maritime ensemble Atlantic Sinfonia, who will be playing a free show as part of Fredericton’s Garrison Stage outdoor concert series. The first of the showcase concerts will feature cellist Carmen Bruno, violinist Etienne Chenard and violinist Marc Djokic along with accompanists. The festival will conclude with a gala show featuring performers and pieces selected by the artistic director.
The festival also aims to develop musical talent in New Brunswick through a number of workshops and lessons, including the Classical Remix Lab. Local pianists can record themselves performing as part of the Piano Mondays Contest to receive free tickets. Festivals like this often use brochure printing and lectures to help explain the history and technique involved in classical pieces.
The 2026 edition of the New Brunswick Summer Music Festival will take place from August 4 to 15 at various locations around Fredericton.
