Ribfest to heat up Fredericton

The Freddy Beach Ribfest will return to the city this June, aiming to kick off summer with food and celebration.

“Ribbers” from across Atlantic Canada and beyond will compete against each other to receive awards in categories like People’s Choice and Best Sauce. Visitors can sample barbecue from returning favourites like Crabby’s BBQ Shack and Fat Boys Barbecue, as well as newcomers like Smokehouse Bandits and Monkey Rebel BBQ. Ribbers are known for their use of large Signs, and making use of banner printing can help to stand out in a crowded festival.

The festival will also feature live music and entertainment, headlined by rock veterans Trooper. The Sunshine Rollers will present a special Roller Rodeo event during the fair, inviting locals to take to the floor. Plaid Army Entertainment will also be holding a live boxing card as part of the festivities, headlined by Brewer vs. Campa.

Visitors can also get in touch with the local community by visiting vendor booths and taking part in agricultural activities. The festival grounds will include a classic carnival midway with games and rides. Some proceeds from Ribfest will be going towards the Lions International organization.

The 2026 edition of Freddy Beach Ribfest will take place from June 11 to 14 at the Capital Exhibit Centre in Fredericton. Admission will be free for children 12 and younger, with weekend passes also available.
