The Summer Soulsa event will be returning to Fredericton this September, looking to celebrate Afro-Caribbean culture in New Brunswick and beyond.
Boasting of being Atlantic Canada’s biggest festival for Afro-Caribbean, Latin and African music, Summer Soulsa will include a full weekend of concerts and cultural events. The festival will launch with a Thursday night event at Barracks Square, followed the next day by a Latin & Hip-Hop Party. People of all ages and levels of experience can take part in a dance workshop to learn some new moves.
There will be a classic carnival parade with colourful marchers and music winding through Fredericton on Saturday night, leading into an evening of live performances and a Caribbean Block Party. The festival area will include food and other vendors, guest DJs and more. Sunday will focus on African music and culture, with an after party at Klub Khrome to close the weekend.
Featured artists include dancehall star Charly Black, Canadian Latin musician Teria Morala and Jamaican singer Ammoye. Summer Soulsa will also have a professional and educational component to it, with professionals in the music industry discussing their career journeys. Festivals like this often use poster printing and local music advertising to attract celebrants.
The 2026 edition of Summer Soulsa will take place from September 3 to 26 at Barracks Square and other locations around Fredericton.
