The Fredericton Public Library will be collaborating with the Charlotte Street Arts Centre this January for a special fundraising event designed to celebrate the love of Books and writing.
The evening will feature personal stories from a host of New Brunswick-based writers, including over a dozen literary names speaking on their own experiences with reading, libraries, and Books of all types and sizes.
Featuring multiple Poet Laureates of Fredericton, including current holder of the position Fawn Parker and current Fredericton Region Museum writer-in-residence Jordan Trethewey, other confirmed names include poet Ambrose Albert, non-fiction bestseller Jacques Poitras, and horror writer Mike Thorn.
Presentations can take the form of memoir, short story, or poetry. The goal is to raise support for the Library’s work of cultural preservation and literary outreach. Funds raised from the event will go to support both the Fredericton Public Library and Charlotte Street Arts Centre as they begin another year of cultural programming. The Centre hosts events throughout the year as well as classes and workshops aimed at emerging artists. Literary events like this often raise money for charitable causes, often using methods like flyer printing and social media to highlight the organization’s contributions.
For the Love of Books will take place on the evening of January 10 at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton.
