Tool company headquarters expanding
Milwaukee Tool will expand its headquarters in Menomonee Falls neighbor Brookfield.
The company plans to invest $32m into the proposed expansion of the international center for developing new products. It would add a new building measuring 114,500 square feet with multiple floors. The 3.5-acre Milwaukee Tool property would expand workspace from 190,000 square feet to 504,000 square feet.
Milwaukee Tool has grown substantially in recent years. In 2011, 300 people worked at the Brookfield location. Now, there are nearly 1,300 and the expansion will add more than 350 jobs in five years, with workers earning $75,000 for an average salary.
According to the group president of the company, growing is part of being a successful business, and having a quality workplace in order to have a quality workforce and additional space will help the company keep up with the latest innovations and demand.
The Center for Growth for Waukesha County, Brookfield city officials, Milwaukee 7, and the Economic Development Corporation for the state are working with Milwaukee Tool for the project. Brookfield may use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district to offset $3.5 million of the total cost. The company would like to keep the workforce on the property but is also looking at offsite office space.
New employees at the company will no doubt need business cards both to network with other professionals and possible sales opportunities.
