Herzing University provides incentives for Latino nurses

The National Association of Hispanic Nurses is teaming up with Herzing University in Menomonee Falls to boost the careers of Hispanic nurses and the neighborhoods they serve.

Undergraduate and graduate programs at Herzing's nursing department may come at a discount for members of NAHN. Registered nurse certification and Nursing Bachelors and Masters of Science are eligible programs. Programs after obtaining a Master Degree, an MBA, and healthcare management programs are also included.

NAHN president, registered nurse, and fellow of the American Academy of Nursing Norma Cueller, PhD, disclosed the organization's excitement to work with Herzing University. This opportunity provides more opportunities for nursing education in the Latino community.

The more opportunities these students have to go into nursing, the more likely the community will have a labor force that celebrates culture and language through understanding. This will lead to better communication, better patient experiences, and better healthcare for all. Print shops are often used to provide materials in multiple languages for all sorts of businesses who want to improve their communication and celebrate different cultures and languages.

According to the university's Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Development Karilyn Van Oosten, one of Herzing's missions is to educate healthcare workers that are diverse in order to have an inclusive healthcare system. She wants NAHN members will participate in the program.

Herzing University focuses on careers in IT, business, healthcare, and nursing. Students can transfer credits from other colleges and create a class schedule that fits their needs.
