Former Menomonee Falls waste site generates seven-figure sum
Before 2014 closed out, the village of Menomonee Falls sold real estate that used to be in the hands of Advanced Waste Services (AWS) to Towne Realty.
The 21.6 acres of land cost the company $2.7m. Towne Realty also bought two other plots of land from tax-incremental financing district No. 10.
In the recent past, the village sold land that had potential to house a business for processing industrial waste. The decision to sell the land came after months of planning to find a purpose for it. Village representatives have expressed their frustration with the waste treatment business issue.
The village made it clear that it did not want AWS to build a waste treatment plant and bought the land for $2.8m after the company filed a complaint. Last year, the AWS site was part of TIF district 12's 107.5 acres based north of Silver Spring Drive and surrounding Lilly Road in the region of Manhardt Drive. The village has turned 12 plots of the land from heavy industrial zoning to light zoning, because it is better suited for the latter.
If another business wanted to buy the land and use it, they may have to convince the village that their business would benefit them. Using a printing service could help the business make their intentions clear and give off a professional aura.
