Falls gets new basketball coach

On June 7, Menomonee Falls named 50-year-old Steve Showalter as their new coach for boys basketball.

Showalter landed the job the day after his interview, and is replacing Ben Farley, who took a position as the Brookfield East head football coach.

The former police officer for Germantown has been the state champion three times over and was a Lindenwood University assistant coach last season. Catholic Memorial put him on staff about a month prior to Menomonee Falls, where he was to be the Supervisor of the Learning Commons and been in charge of study spaces. Ryan Anderson, the athletic director for Menomonee Falls, suggested the position to Showalter the previous week.

According to Showalter, the coaching position will fill the gap he needs to retire in Wisconsin and collect a pension since he left law enforcement. He adds that it was a hard decision, but he sees the move as good for his career and on a personal level.

Along with coaching, he will also be an educational assistant. Anderson disclosed his excitement for Showalter joining the staff, stating that he is a good coach and can create strong relationships with students, especially at-risk individuals.

Schools often make calendars with photos of their sports teams and honors fraternities, which means hiring a professional printing company to produce and distribute them.
