County recognizes young people making a difference

Waukesha County, which includes Menomonee Falls, held its 4-H awards banquet at the Ale House in New Berlin. The event also recognized awards from the Waukesha County Fair.

Josh Peterson and Mackenzie Norem won the Achievement Medal for their life skills project and growth. Lyta Muszytowski and Amara Bugenhagen won the Citizen Medal for community service. Emily Udulutch and Joelle Heller won the Leadership Medal for youth leadership.

Five Wisconsin members of the youth organisation 4-H received the Key Award Program, which honors those who have shown steady growth during their membership. They have used their acquired abilities through active participation in the program and throughout the community. The winners are Mackenzie and Tyler Norem, Sean McGrath, Charlie DeCloux, and Lyta Nicoll. The Danforth Award, named after William H. Danforth who motivated youth to achieve and influence, is Waukesha County 4-H's highest award. Mackenzie Norem and Sean McGrath also won this award.

There were six State Conference Scholarship award winners. The winner of the 4-H American Spirit Trip was Jess Hughes. The trip takes students to places around the nation so they can learn about important sites pertaining to freedom and independence.

Multiple students will travel to the Clientship Washington Focus experience to learn about the US Congress, meet representatives, witness the House of Representatives in action, and participate in civic workshops. Members of the House and Congress have official letterheads used for business correspondence.
