AP Scholars on the increase in Falls

Menomonee Falls High School (MFHS) has broken the district record for the number of Advanced Placement Scholars for the school year.

Last year, 107 students were AP Scholars, but that number has increased to 130 this year. These scholars are students who pass more than two tests for advanced placement courses for the spring semester. Menomonee Falls High School has 25 courses at the Advanced Placement level, including macroeconomics, psychology, and physics. The school also broke the record for the number of students this year who are scholars on a national level at 14. National AP Scholars must average a four out of five on AP tests and a four on at least eight tests.

Around 25% of the scholars scored three or better on at least four tests, making them AP Scholars with Honor. About 76% of students who took the over 850 AP tests last year earned credits for college totaling over $1m, which is well over the average for Wisconsin and the globe.

District superintendent Dr. Pat Greco expressed his astonishment at the results. AP courses are at college level and many of the students are young teens, and Dr. Greco said the results show the dedication of students at MFHS as well as the district's dedication to their academics.

To congratulate students, schools can put banners outside the front entrance announcing the achievement for proud parents and students to see.
