Symphony orchestras play season finales

Racine Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will hold its “April Masterworks-RSO at The Rita” early in April.

The program, which is still set to go ahead at the time of writing, will include “Shaker Loops” by John Adams and “Farewell” Symphony #45 by Haydn. Lydia Weaver, this year’s Young Artist Competition Winner, will be the afternoon’s featured artist. The curtain will go up at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 5 at the Frances Bedford Concert Hall, 900 Wood Road.

Concertgoers are invited to remain after the program for the Symphony’s Season Finale Fiesta. Here, guests can meet Maestro Laurino, Lydia Weaver and members of the orchestra. A taco bar and desserts will be available and attendees will get the opportunity to meander through The Rita’s art galleries.

Adult general admission tickets must be purchased on line at the RSO website. Admission to the Season Finale Fiesta will also require tickets.

Our own Kenosha Symphony will be celebrating its 80th Anniversary finale concert with a “Celebration of Beethoven.” Violinist Joshua Brown will be the featured artist. He and the orchestra will perform the Beethoven Violin Concerto, Op. 61, in D Major. The orchestra will then perform Beethoven’s Third Symphony otherwise known as the “Eroica.”

The concert will be Saturday, May 2 from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm at the Ralph J. Houghton Performance Center, 913 57th Street. Concerts such as these often have special commemorative program brochure printing done.
