The Civil War Museum in Kenosha will be going online for three virtual events in August.
The first program will be Civics 101, an overview of the Civics Test used in the U.S. Citizen Naturalization process. This will be American history and government in a trivia competition format presented on Zoom.
Viewers are invited to use their laptops, smartphones, or tablets during the competition. Pre-registration is required and registrants will receive the link in advance. Civics 101 will begin at noon on Wednesday, August 19.
The following Wednesday, August 26, the museum will host History Happy Hour: The First Woman Presidential Candidate. This promises to be an evening of Victorian spiritualism and scandal as museum staff relate the life and times of Victoria Woodhull, leader in the suffrage movement, and her bid for the U.S. presidency. The program will be livestreamed on Zoom from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
These two events will be free, but the museum would appreciate any donations. Many patrons like to donate by purchasing Promotional Products from the museum’s gift shop.
Also Civil War historians will be discussing decisions made by military leaders during Petersburg, Chickamauga, Gettysburg, and Antietam. Four programs will be presented on Saturday, September 12 starting at 9:30 am, with the plan to host them physically at the museum’s 5400 First Avenue location. Attendance is limited to 50 people however, so the event has been opened to in-person and virtual registration.
