Local museum has online events

Kenosha’s Civil War Museum will be presenting three virtual events over the next few weeks.

On Monday, November 30, from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm, Civil War Media Club’s Doug Dammann will lead a discussion on Megan Kate Nelson’s “The Three Cornered War”. Nelson explores connections between Western expansion, the American West, and the Civil War. Registration is $10 and those attending will receive Zoom link information by email.

On Thursday, December 3 from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Nick Sacco, a Park Ranger at St. Louis Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, will give a talk “From Enslaver to Civil Rights Advocate: The Political Evolution of Ulysses S. Grant.” U.S. Grant went from a slave farmer to a national advocate for African Americans’ right to vote in 12 years. Sacco will also provide resources for teachers. Registration, priced at $15, is required and the Zoom link will be emailed.

On Friday, December 11 from noon until 1:00 pm, the museum will present “Such Anxious Hours: Wisconsin Women’s Voice from the Civil War.” The speaker, Jo Ann Daly Carr, she will discuss the letters and diaries of eight Wisconsin women that reflect daily life from events at Fort Sumter to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The event will be free and can be viewed on YouTube and the museum’s Facebook page.

Patrons wanting to support the museum can buy items sporting the museum’s graphic design or logo in the museum’s gift shop.
