Kenosha makes the most of winter

Wisconsin winters are notoriously brutal, but Kenosha has found a way to have fun despite the cold and snow.

The upcoming Snow Daze Festival marks the ninth time the annual celebration has been held. The event is presented by the Lakeshore Business Improvement District, Visit Kenosha, and the City of Kenosha, along with the support of local businesses. During the day, businesses, attractions, shops, and restaurants in Downtown Kenosha encourage residents to come the city’s core to enjoy the fresh air, and see the ice sculptures, which will be displayed throughout the area.

There will be many opportunities to take photos, but the centerpieces of the festival are the ice sculptures. Over 50 of these artworks will be displayed in front of businesses downtown, and in Veterans Memorial Park. Ice artists will be on hand and will be creating an ice sculpture in the park as observers watch. These talented sculptors are from Art Below Zero, located in Franksville.

The park will also be home to the city’s ice rink, where people can check out skates for free, thanks to the Mayor’s Youth Commission.

This year’s Snow Daze is set for Saturday, February 4, throughout Kenosha’s Downtown, and at Veterans Memorial Park, which is at 5220 Sixth Avenue. Although the festival is a full-day event, activities in the park are scheduled from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm. Admission is free, and organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create handouts advertising the fun.
