A global celebration of music will be acknowledged with local parties in Kenosha.
Make Music Kenosha is part of the global celebration known as Make Music Day. Parties take place throughout the world at the summer solstice. In Kenosha, the event will bring together people of all interests, ages, and skill levels to create music throughout the city.
Make Music Day was started over 40 years ago in France, called Fête de la Musique. It is now celebrated in over 1,000 cities across 120 countries, including 21 cities in Wisconsin. What makes it unlike any other music festival is that anyone who wants to perform is welcome to do so, and anyone who would like to attend is also free to visit the venues.
The festival will also include the popular Block Party, which is held in the city’s downtown. The Block Party comprises stage performances by artists from the local area. Scheduled performers include the alt-rock band Would You Kindly? Other somewhat unusual activities include clinics such as “Banging on Buckets with Paint,” which has proved to be popular. New for 2024 is a String Clinic, and the Block Party will also have food and beverages available, as well as creative products.
The festival is scheduled for Friday, June 21, with the Block Party starting at 12:00 noon that day. Organizers of events like this will often use banner printing to create signage for the venues.
