A traditional event is set to take place in Kenosha to celebrate the holidays.
The annual Carthage College Christmas Festival dates to 1874, when it was first established as a band concert for the holidays. Over the years, the festival has evolved, until in 1974, it took the form it has today. Since then, the event has continued to grow and has become one of the largest held on campus, drawing more than 3,500 attendees during the weekend. Members of the community, along with college alumni, faculty members, and students all take part.
The event includes the tradition of sharing the meaning of the season with music, some of it played on the Fritsch Memorial Organ. Students from a variety of disciplines will perform every evening as members of the Carthage Philharmonic, the Wind Orchestra, the Lincoln Chamber Singers, the Carthage Chorale, the Carthage Treble Choir, and the Carthage Choir. Programs for events like this can be created using brochure printing.
The theme of the upcoming festival is “Come to Us, Abide with Us,” which was inspired by the lyrics of the beloved Christmas carol, “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” The festival will end with the Service of Light, an annual spectacle during which candlelight fills the chapel.
The festival will take place Friday through Sunday, December 3 to 5, with the first events beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday.
