One of the most beloved Christmas tales of all time will be told in Kenosha, but with a twist.
Charles Dickens’s classic “Christmas Carol” is the well-known story of Ebenezer Scrooge and how he learns humanity and generosity from three ghosts—Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future.
In this adaptation, Peter Bloedel has taken the Dickens original and reworked it in the style of Dr. Seuss, telling the story using the kind of nonsensical rhyming couplets Seuss used in Books such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Bloedel’s take on the story includes characters and concepts like zoot fruited juices, and new characters not in the book. They have names like Timmy Loo Hoo, Bed-Headed Fred, Belle, and Ringo, and they appear along with Scrooge, the Cratchits, Jacob Marley, and other traditional characters from the novel. Altogether, there are about 30 characters in the play.
“A Suessified Christmas Carol” will be presented December 2 to 4, and December 9 to 11, with Friday and Saturday starting times being 7:30 am and the Sunday matinees beginning at 2:00 pm.
The Lakeside Players, a community theater group founded in 1973, will present the show at the Rhode Center for the Arts on 56th Street. Theatergoers enjoy having programs to refer to that list the actors and summarize the plot, and organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create these programs for audiences.Get a Free Quote for Books
