No lemonade stands in Wisconsin this summer

Lemonade stands ran by children and teens in the summer have been a part of the American culture for generations however new laws have made it illegal for kids to set up lemonade stands.

Wisconsin is one of 35 states where lemonade stands are now illegal. Parents living in Burlington with children that hope to make a few extra bucks this summer will have to apply for a license in order to sell this refreshing drink with the signature stands that typically enlisted banner printing services from Print shops with the prices per glass and pictures of lemons on them. The punishment for not having a license to sell lemonade is a citation that comes with a fine.

Country Time, a famous brand that sells lemonade, is doing its best to keep the lemonade stands running. The company hopes to make selling lemonade at stands legal once again without the fear of being fined or the hassle of having to get a permit. Country Time will even provide Legal Aid to any family whose kids have been fined for operating lemonade stands in 2018 or 2019. The families will be eligible to receive up to $30,000 worth of aid. They just have to send in a photo of the fine along with a detailed explanation of how it was issued.

The states where it is still legal to operate a lemonade stand without a permit include California, Connecticut, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, and Texas. Parents are advised to check if their states are on this list before allowing their children to operate lemonade stands.
