Burlington is holding its 43rd annual Christmas Parade this December.
This year’s parade theme is “Lights, Camera, Christmas!” All entries will be inspired by popular holiday movies. The parade route will start on Kane Street and cross over to Pine Street using Milwaukee Avenue and Chestnut Street. A map is available on the Experience Burlington website. Towns often use poster printing services to promote their seasonal events. Attendees can also bring cold weather gear like hats, scarves, and mittens to donate to local food pantries.
Before the parade, more than 25 local businesses will be displaying movie-themed vignettes in their windows and storefronts. Attendees can visit Thrivent, the event’s presenting sponsor, to vote for their favorite display. Voting will close at 8:30 pm. Thrivent’s display will be inspired by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Other vignettes will include Elf at Hansen’s Ice Cream and The Polar Express at The Runaway. Some stores will put their displays up early, with several planning to have them ready for the Light up the Night event next Friday, November 21.
Registration is open now for businesses and groups that would like to participate in the parade. The entry fee is $25, and participants can sign up online. Businesses can also sign up as sponsors on the event page.
The parade will take place on Friday, December 5 at 6:30 pm. Storefront vignettes will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
