Racine County Human Services, BeLEAF Survivors, and Grace Church are partnering to host a fundraising walk and free community carnival this summer.
The walk will support BeLEAF Survivors’ Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) program. The walk is short and appropriate for all ages, and the Community Carnival will include games, food, balloon art, face painting, and representatives from local community and foster care organizations. Community organizations often use brochure printing services to share information about their programs at this type of event.
Participants can sign up online. The fee for the SCAN Fundraising Walk is $10 or $25 for an event T-shirt. Kids six and younger can join the walk for free. Those interested can also make additional donations on the registration page. The carnival is free and open to the public. Food, including pizza donated by Domino’s and ice cream and popsicles provided by Grace Church, is also free.
SCAN provides safety training for kids in Racine County schools, including those in Burlington. This program teaches children how to recognize unsafe situations and report them to appropriate adults. The organization estimates that the $10 walk registration fee covers education for one child.
The events will be on Saturday, August 15. The SCAN Fundraising Walk will begin at 11:30 am, and the Community Carnival will be from noon to 3:00 pm.
