Families of those living with a mental illness often find that they also need support from others who understand what they are experiencing. A group is being set up in Burlington that will offer this to local families, and it will offer a safe space for them to lean on one another.
The group, which is being organized by Love, Inc., is intended for families of members of the community who have “treatable brain disorders”. The plan is for its members to meet once a month except for August, and these meetings will be scheduled for two hours.
The facilitator for these events will be Mary Paetsch, who has more than 20 years of experience in this role. It will give people a chance to talk about their feelings and challenges in a safe and confidential environment, and the participants can feel free to open up without fear to a group who understands.
