An upcoming event will give Yakima residents a chance to celebrate by helping others.
Marion Drain and Hop Capital Brewing are teaming up to present the upcoming ThanksKilling event, which asks attendees to bring donations to the brewery and enjoy live music. The bands on tap are local outfits that have earned a solid fan base by performing throughout the region.
The lineup is Malinois, Cold Hearts, Odyssey, and Sleep Signals. Odyssey is a progressive, instrumental metal outfit that formed in 2007 in Seattle, and Sleep Signals is a hard rock band from Redmond, Oregon, that formed in 2014.
Attendees who bring donations will be admitted free. The organizers have provided a list of the items they are requesting. These are new toys, winter coats, shoes, new hygiene products, blankets, sleeping Bags, clothing (either gently used or new), and fully frozen turkeys or non-perishable food products.
The donations will be distributed among four local charities – the Union Gospel Mission, The Space, the Rotary Food Bank, and Rods House. When events like these are planned, organizers can use flyer printing to create handouts to advertise locally, and include a list of needed items.
ThanksKilling is set for November 19, and all ages are welcome. The doors will open at 5:00 pm, and admission is free for those who bring donations. Hop Capital Brewing is on River Road.
