Runners always enjoy their favorite sport, but an event coming up in Yakima adds additional dimensions, color, and light.
The Dye Hard 5K is a color run, a type of contest inspired by the Hindu festival Holi, celebrated in India to welcome the beginning of spring, and now common throughout the world.
The race is a nighttime event, and the powders that will be used are fluorescent and will glow under black light, adding an unusual aspect to the run. An after party with music is planned, and Legends Casino will provide more powder for people to continue the fun of throwing it on one another.
Organizers remind participants that outside food, beverages, glass containers, weapons, and pets are not allowed. However, participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, a medal, race bib, admission to the party, and photos at a special photo booth. Packets will be available at the sports complex from 12.00 pm until 9.00 pm on the day of the race, and participants will need to show their photo ID.
The Dye Hard 5K is scheduled for June 27, at the SOZO Sports Complex located at 2200 South 36th Avenue in Yakima. The race will begin around 9.30 pm, and participants are asked to arrive no later than 9.00 pm to check in. Events like this benefit from publicity, and organizers can provide it using poster printing to create colorful advertisements.
