An upcoming event in Yakima will bring a large amount of comedy to the Capitol Theatre.
Sam Miller is a comedian based in Olympia, Washington, whose comedy often draws on his life experiences. He stands 6 feet 6 inches tall, weighs over 350 pounds, and notes with pride that he has been clean and sober for almost 20 years. His struggles are part of his comedy, as he jokes about subjects such as what Yakima jails are like.
He began his career in comedy in the mid-2000s when he was part of a vaudeville show. In 2014, he appeared in Olympia at an open mic event, and that was the start of a successful career that includes live appearances and album releases. He was signed by Stand Up! Records, and has released the first of three planned albums. The work “Round Trip,” dropped in 2023 and was recorded in the Capitol Theatre, where he will appear soon. The album climbed to the top spot on the iTunes comedy chart the week it was released.
He has performed at clubs throughout the country, and during the pandemic, he wrote 100 new jokes weekly, streaming them via Facebook to raise funds for homeless nonprofits.
Sam Miller will appear at the 4th Street Theatre, a 400-seat house that is one of the venues at the Capitol Theatre, on October 3. When they engage performers like this, organizers can help promote the show by using poster printing to create advertisements.
