Yakima gets ready to party

One of the biggest events in the state is coming to Yakima.

The Central Washington State Fair is a multiday celebration of local culture. It has everything from rides to live music to fair food. Among the highlights are the Motocross, Nitro Fire, Quads & Thrills Show, where the audience will see freestyle motocross including stunts like cliffhangers and the backflip. Quad Wars will feature off-roaders going head to head, while the Frosty Joe Stunt Show will raise adrenalin levels. A Pit Party, where fans can meet athletes and drivers, will be held prior to the motocross.

Food at fairs like this is one of the biggest draws, and the Washington fair is no different. The Lamburger Booth turns 100 this year, making it the longest-running vendor at the event. New food this year includes Caramel Apple Funnel Cakes, and PB&J Jammin’ Cone Chicken, which is chicken tenders, deep fried, served in a sugar cone and drizzled with jelly and peanut butter sauce.

Live entertainment will be provided by artists like Isarely Flores, who records for the international label, Café Records. She began singing when she was 15, and recently released her second album, “Tres Dias,” which she submitted to be considered for the Latin Grammy.

The fair takes place September 18 through 28 at the State Fair Park in Yakima. Decorations made using banner printing services are perfect at events like this.
