Every other year, the Yakima Valley Libraries Foundation holds a book sale, and bibliophiles are already gathering up Bags and Boxes to take home their treasures for 2018.
Book lovers are advised to get to the sale early to find the Books they want, but organizers say there will be a large selection to pick from throughout the event.
Every book is priced at 50ยข. This includes nonfiction works, fiction Books, large Print Books, and even reference Books. Books on Tape, used DVDs, and other Forms of media are also included in the sale. Funds raised will be used by the library to make purchases it cannot make under the law, such as presents for children who take part in the reading program in the summer.
The library district has a central library and 16 branches throughout Yakima County. The district was started in 1945, and serves more than a quarter-million patrons in the county. In 2017, the libraries that comprise the district were open for a total of 31,514 hours and served a combined total of 651,763 people.
The book sale takes place this Saturday, April 28, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. The garage in back of the Yakima Central Library is the site of the sale. The library is on North Third Street.
Events like this can benefit if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for the community, reminding them of the occasion.
