An upcoming class will give quilters a chance to use up extra fabric and have an enjoyable evening at the same time.
Betty Hamilton, a quilting instructor, will lead a class discussion about color theory as applied to quilting, as well as instructions on how to make a quilt star. Anyone who is planning to attend will need to bring their own fabric in 9” by 15” dimensions, or larger. However, the fabric does not need to have a Christmas design, since any cotton quilting fabric will be acceptable. The finished star can be used as a package topper or placed on a Christmas tree. There is no sewing involved in this class.
The fabric is the only item attendees need to bring. If they have them, they are encouraged to bring a rotary cutter with a cutting mat, a ruler for use with the cutter, an ironing mat, and an iron. If people do not have these items available, there will be some at the location they can use. Best of all, the event coordinator will provide coffee and cookies. Events like these may be more enjoyable when organizers use flyer printing to create a handout comprising of instructions on how to complete the project.
The class is set for December 1, from 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm at the Fellowship Hall of Englewood Christian Church on North 44th Avenue.
