The Paperboys, a Canadian group that comprises from five to seven musicians depending on the concert, is led by Kalinda and Tom Landa. The outfit plays music from a wide range of genres, making them difficult to classify.
In any given performance, The Paperboys might rip through several waltzes, bluegrass, pop, New Orleans brass, fiddle tunes, Mexican folk tunes, and Celtic reels, then top it off with a singalong of West African music.
The outfit has given more than 4,300 performances since they first got together in 1992. The success of the group has a lot to do with the three musicians at its heart: founder Tom Landa who is guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader; Kalissa Landa, vocalist and fiddler; and Geoffrey Kelly, a vocalist, guitarist, and flautist who was already well-known throughout Canada when he joined the group.
The Paperboys give a different show every time they perform. They agree on the first number, but have no setlist, instead deciding what to do based on the reaction of the crowd.
A review says:
“One of the very best live acts I’ve had the honor of seeing. An outstanding ensemble of immense talent and passion.”
The Paperboys will be at The Seasons on Saturday, September 17, at 7:30 pm. Colorful publicity for events like this can be created by organizers using poster printing.
