Outdoor family fun to hit Yakima

An upcoming event will give people a chance to enjoy activities outdoors.

The Yakima Greenway is presenting the Family Fun Fest, where attendees can enjoy snacks and drinks, explore community booths, and take part in activities designed for the entire family. Planned activities include rock painting, a bounce house, Slip N Slide, and kayaking. For the first time, this year will see a bike ride and golf event on the schedule.

The Kids Fish Fest gives youngsters a chance to try their hand at kayaking. Boats and lifejackets will be provided. The Cowlitz-Naches Chapter: Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance will oversee a Bike Rodeo. Kids who have bikes are encouraged to bring them, but helmets and bikes will be provided to youngsters who do not have one, thanks to Bearded Monkey Cycling and FreeBikes4Kidz.

Golf from The First Tee - Central Washington will be on hand. The organization blends the opportunity to learn life skills with the game of golf to help young people build resilience, self-confidence, and strength at an early age.

The Family Fun Fest is on Friday, August 15, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, at the Sarg Hubbard Park, located at 111 South 18th Street. Admission is free and there is no need to register. McDonald’s of Yakima will give a prize to anyone who participates in all the activities. When they plan events like this, organizers can use banner printing to create fun decorations.
