An “outlaw country” singer/songwriter is set to perform in Yakima, his hometown.
Jackson Taylor grew up in Yakima and attended junior high and high school in the city. His father was a farm worker and Jackson grew up traveling throughout Washington, California, and Montana, where his father worked on fruit farms. His hardscrabble childhood and sometimes wild behavior have given him the reputation as an “outlaw.”
Taylor has influenced artists in several musical genres, and has recorded with musicians including Austin artist Dale Watson, and Red Dirt music star Jason Boland, as well as Jonny Two Bags, who is the lead guitarist of Social Distortion, a punk rock band from Southern California.
He has appeared on stage with such stars as Willie Nelson, The Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Billy Joe Shaver. Shaver, who is a songwriter himself, has effused:
“. . . [a] straight shooting, greatest entertainer, songwriter, kickass, lives life to the hilt, outlaw who ever lived – or will live - my best friend, Jackson Taylor.”
Taylor has released more than a dozen CDs and has hit the Billboard Top 100 list multiple times. He is now based in Denver.
Jackson Taylor will be at Hoops on West Lincoln in Yakima on June 12, starting at 5:00 pm. Flyer printing gives organizers of events like this the perfect method to create advertising handouts.
