Hi Crime, an indie-pop outfit based in Seattle, started in 2015 when songwriters Mitch Etterand Brielle Rutledge met and began working on a recording project. The effort turned out to be their first release, an EP entitled “The Foreign Hours.” The work was a true labor of love as they worked at each other’s houses while Rutledge finished her college courses. She would return regularly to continue recording.
Media outlets in the region began paying attention to the EP, encouraging Rutledge and Etterand to expand their group to a four-member band and start playing live gigs. They added André Zapata and Cody McCann to the lineup, which gave them the energy to work on the full-length effort, “The Kids Still Got It,” their 2018 debut album.
Since then, Hi Crime has been appearing live in shows throughout the Pacific Northwest, supporting their album as well as showcasing new music. They have released three singles – “Waves” in 2019, “World’s Fair” in 2020, and “Rainy Days & Crooked Sheets” in 2021. A second LP is on the way.
