Hip-hop fun part of Yakimas February

An influential hip-hop group is coming to Yakima and bringing some friends.

Jungle Brothers will appear at the Bearded Monkey soon, along with Craft of Distraction, Daniel Rin`con, and M-Status.

The Jungle Brothers have been a force in music for 35 years, and are credited with being among the co-creators of the hip-hop genre, as well as the founders of the Native Tongues collective. The Brothers pioneered the fusion of house music, hip-hop, and jazz, and worked with a house-music producer on the song “I’ll House You,” from the album “Straight Out of the Jungle.” The song was a hit and created a genre known as “hip-house.” The Yakima concert is the final stop on the Jungle Brothers’ tour of the West Coast.

Craft of Distraction is a four-member hip-hop group based in Yakima comprising Core Concept, Cue Cee, Enso, and Phocus TAO. Their live performances are energetic and display innovative rhymes, and they cite the influence of older artists, such as Rakim and the Beastie Boys, on their work.

Daniel Rin`con is known for his work in alternative hip-hop, and M-Status is both an artist and a music producer located in central Washington.

The event takes place February 25, from 7.30 pm until 10.30 pm. Bearded Monkey Music is at 1802 West Nob Hill in Yakima. Events like this can be publicized successfully using handouts organizers create with flyer printing.
