Downtown Yakima will hold Chalk Fest, an annual event that recognizes talented artists. Taking place next month, the focus of this year’s event is Halloween.
Organizers invite artists to show their talents at Chalk Fest. Participating artists will be given chalk to draw on the sidewalks of Downtown Yakima. The chalk will be free, and each person will receive two Boxes of pastels. Entrants can then channel their creativity and draw artwork inspired by the event’s theme.
Judges will be at the event to assess the art, and awards will be handed out to the top artwork created. Organizers are also planning a separate “People’s Choice,” where spectators will vote for the top artwork at the event.
There will also be other festivities at the event, including live music and food vendors. Spectators can take a break from viewing the art and relax with some food and music. Art vendors will also be available, where they will sell their goods. Events like these often employ banner printing to help direct guests to different activities.
Chalk Fest will take place on October 9 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. It will happen at Performance Park located at 100 Pendleton Way. Entry to the event as spectators is free, and all participants are encouraged to arrive dressed in their Halloween costumes.
