A Celtic band is on the way to Yakima to provide some folk music for everyone to enjoy.
The Stout Pounders are a Celtic folk-rock group based in Seattle. Although their repertoire comprises mostly classic Irish and Scottish folk music, the group is influenced by a variety of other genres from heavy metal to ska. The Stout Pounders have appeared everywhere from large festivals to intimate pubs. They play in venues throughout Seattle, and since 2009, have been the Seattle Saint Patrick's Day Dash house band.
A large ensemble, the group currently has seven members, five of whom are vocalists, with Darin Wallace handling lead vocals. Among the instruments played by the band are the fiddle, harmonica, guitar, Tele-Banjo, bagpipes, accordion, whistles, bass, bodhran, bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin. Other current members are Ianna Byrtus, Amber Crea, Christian Hoffman, Jimmy McKnight, Phil Tsai, and Mike Wallace.
The term Celtic music covers a broad range of genres that generally includes the traditional folk tunes from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Western Europe. Other groups considered to be in the Celtic music field are Celtic Woman, and The Chieftains.
The concert will be held at The Seasons Performance Hall, the first time the Stout Pounders will play this large venue. The concert is set for July 9 at 7.30 pm. When this type of event is scheduled, organizers can use poster printing to create attractive advertising for the performance.
