Woodinville running series comes to an end
The last race of the year is coming up for an organization in Woodinville.
The final 5K of the Let Me Run program is set to take place soon in Woodinville. The program is a series of races designed specifically for boys, who learn to be active, build healthy relationships, and be themselves. The upcoming race is a 5K marking the final event in a seven-week training course for boys in the program.
Anyone who wants to support the participants is welcome to run, jog, or walk, which will help Let Me Run raise funds for its next season. The course is an out-and-back loop over flat terrain, with both its start and finish lines in Wilmot Park in Woodinville, so it should be a fast race.
Ashley Armistead is the founder of Let Me Run, who set up the program to use running to help boys develop their social, emotional, and psychological health, as well as their physical fitness. The program is also designed to help boys learn self-expression, self-confidence, and respect for one another, rather than conforming to a masculine “ideal.”
The Let Me Run SpringFest 5K is scheduled for Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 am. Wilmot Park is on 131st Avenue Northeast and the fee is $35. It is helpful when organizers of events like this use banner printing to create markers to guide runners through the course.
