The Woodinville Police Department is holding a series of workshops that help citizens better understand how law enforcement officers do their jobs. The first workshop, a presentation on fraud, has already taken place, but there are three more informative evenings on the schedule.
Next up is “Officer Involved Shootings.” The evening will examine what precisely it means when a law enforcement official is put on administrative leave after a shooting. Residents who attend the workshop will learn how the incident is investigated, using audio and video from an actual case.
The next workshop will allow participants to go through the “TI” Simulator that officers use to train to handle the type of scenarios they might find in real life.
The last workshop in the series will discuss the police response to people with mental health issues. The talk will discuss how police might approach people who appear to be suicidal; or how they respond when family members call about someone in crisis; or how they handle those who are publicly acting out.
The “Officer Involved Shootings” workshop is scheduled for November 8, 2017, from 7 until 9 pm; the “TI” Simulator meeting is November 15, 2017, from 7 until 9 pm; and the mental health discussion will take place December 11, 2017, from 7 until 9 pm. All the workshops will take place at Woodinville City Hall; interested parties should reserve space on Eventbrite.
Organizers of events like these will often work with a flyer printing company to create handouts outlining the information to be presented.
