Woodinville breaks ground on schoolhouse project
Woodinville officials recently broke ground on a long-anticipated project.
The City of Woodinville is partnering with HAL Real Estate and MainStreet Property Group LLC on The Schoolhouse District, a project that includes, among other items, the renovation and restoration of Historic Schoolhouse No. 23. Specific plans for the building including preserving it a historic landmark, and adding retail spaces on the first and second stories.
Also included in the project is the renovation of part of the YMCA, comprising 8,000 square feet, along with the addition of another 8,500 square feet of space to be used for childcare. Another 20,000 square feet in the project will go to commercial, restaurant and retail space, including the ‘Wine Walk Row’. This area will be a pedestrian walkway with outdoor seating, landscaping, lighting, and public art. It will feature a grand entrance, and as many as eleven spaces for wine tasting. Brochure printing is often used to list amenities of projects like this.
Two residential buildings, The Chalk and The Class, will offer as many as 275 residential units suitable for families. In addition, there will be as much as 40,000 square feet left as open space. The area will include the Market Street promenade, which can be used by the city for its events.
The schoolhouse was built in 1909, and through the restoration of this building, and the new additions, The Schoolhouse District promises to be a destination for visitors and residents alike.
