What's Happening in Woodinville, WA…

Council aims to retain the character of Woodinville

The city council of Woodinville has been considering how to keep the woodland aspect of the area as it works on a Comprehensive Plan.

Susan Boundy-Sanders, a member of the city council, has said that woodland should be central to the aesthetics of the draft plan. She has elaborated how important design and land use are to delivering the goods on this issue.

Lisa Grueter, a manager at BERK Consulting, has agreed about the significance of land use. If the draft plan has a positive impact on the reality of the city, then there may be strong demand for postcard printing in Woodinville in the future.

Ms Boundy-Sanders has told The Woodinville Weekly:

“We won a Washington Supreme Court case on the basis that our number one land use goal was ‘preserve Northwest woodland character,’ and that was a citywide aesthetic.”

A Comprehensive Plan is a requirement of state legislation. The idea is that the plan can guide planning for a period of two decades. Lots of sectors are influenced by the guidance, including economic development, transportation, recreation, and housing.

Woodinville embarked on the process back in 2013. The idea is that the work will be completed by the end of June 2015. Since there are different ways of meeting the demand for housing within the city, hard choices will have to be made.
