The Northwest Winterfest lantern display will return to Spokane this holiday season, this time with the addition of a new dinosaur exhibit.
Describing itself as the Pacific Northwest’s largest such event, Winterfest features illuminated lanterns expressing different holiday and winter traditions from across the globe. The display is experienced as an indoor, self-guided walking tour accompanied by festive music. The display will also feature hand-painted lantern trees representing cultures such as Brazil, China and Finland, and a giant-sized version of the more traditional holiday tree. The festival grounds will feature food and drink vendors, including hot drinks perfect for the winter season. Previous editions have included vendors like Mary Lou’s Ice Cream and Long Horn BBQ.
This year will feature the addition of Dinosaur Land, featuring replicas of the ancient reptiles and interactive activities aimed at a young audience. There will also be live musical and dance performances throughout the month, including the Jerry-Rigged Entertainer, the Spokane Chinese Dance Group, and Buffalo Jones. Attractions like this often use local printing services and social media to help create a grassroots buzz. Children 10 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
The 2024 Northwest Winterfest will take place at the Spokane Fair & Expo Center from November 29 to December 31, with the attraction open on weekends and select other days.
