The Northwest Improv Festival will return to Spokane this April, bringing with it three days of improvised comedy and other workshops.
The weekend will feature 18 improv acts made up of over 70 performers, with the Festival claiming to be the largest such event in the Pacific Northwest. There will also be 10 comedy workshops on the art of improvisation taught by experienced performers. Topics include The Magic Arc, Connecting in the Dark, and The Art of Pitching an Idea. All proceeds from registration prices go directly to the instructor, with these workshops being a fixture of the improv community for instructors and students alike.
The festival will be headlined by Musical Monday, a trio described as “the internet’s favorite improv comedy band,” who will also be leading two workshops. Other performing groups include Blue Door Theatre, Jet City Improv, and Morris & Morris: Attorneys at Law. The acts will be divided into five shows, with an after party on the Friday night and a mash-up event to conclude the festival. Comedy events like this often draw on the volunteer efforts of the local comedy scene, as well as support from local businesses like venues and Print shops for advertising purposes.
