Orchids may seem like exotic plants that grow in the tropics, but a Seattle presentation will explore the many species that can be found in temperate and even colder regions of the world.
The Bellevue Botanical Garden Society has made arrangements to offer an evening workshop that will introduce the challenge of growing hardy orchids in the garden, as well as the benefits of doing so. At this in-person event there will be many species to choose from, and with some being rare, home horticulturalists have a role to play in their protection and propagation.
The facilitator for the session, Dr. Pete Zale, will introduce the attendees to a selection of hardy orchids that may be suitable for the home grower, and he will explore their care and culture. The participants will have a chance to learn about how he has been able to grow them successfully, and both Society members and non-members alike are welcome to register.
Hosting a gardening workshop offers a way for an organization to help the public learn more about the pastime. A brochure printing company will be able to provide educational materials for these activities.
The Bellevue Botanical Garden has organized this information session for Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 7:00 pm. The registration fee for the function starts at $10.50.
