All hands on deck for Seattle celebration

Many communities host touch-a-truck-style activities, but one planned for Seattle will celebrate its maritime side.

The annual Workboat Show will be a celebration of working boats and the people who use them. They will be sailing and chugging in from a wide area, and admission will be free.

The two day activity will include fishing boats, tug boats as well as a selection of emergency response watercraft, and it will be all hands on deck. The attendees can climb aboard and view the boats up close and personal, and both retired and “in service" craft will be in the mix. There will be captain crews on hand to meet and learn from, and engine demonstrations are scheduled. All ages are encouraged to join in the fun.

To help bring the event to the public, the organizers require volunteers and no experience is needed to participate. Print shops can provide event organizers with a full range of training materials as well as personalized Corporate Gifts to present to those who lend a hand with a special celebration.

South Lake Union Park and Historic Wharf will host this spring event on May 16th and 17th. It will kick off at 10:00 am on both days, and its web listing includes a full listing of the vessels that will be at dockside for the occasion.
