Seattle session explores urban foraging

Nature has prepared a banquet for those who know where to look, and a Seattle walking workshop will help a new crop of foragers to get started.

The attendees in the Urban Foraging session will meet up in the North Parking lot at Discovery Park, and the slots in the class will be filled, first come, first served. The registration fee is $45.00 each.

The facilitator for the activity will learn how to safely collect wild foods in an urban area and the weeds most commonly seen will be included. The safety and ethics of forging will be explored, and the rules and regulations for doing so will be discussed. To add even more value, everyone will find out how they can prepare these vegetables in their home kitchen, and the presenter for the activity will be Melany Vorass Herrera. It will run for three hours.

More people are becoming interested in harvesting their own food, and a workshop can provide a chance to learn from subject matter experts. Supplying the learners with an ID guide can help them to forage safely, and those can be prepared by a brochure printing company.

This in-person introduction to the joys of foraging will take place on June 21st. It will begin at 1:00 pm and is being presented to the community by the University of Washington Botanic Gardens.
