What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Seattle to learn Swedish woodcarving

Working with wood is a craft that combines artistry with technical skill, and a Seattle workshop will give those who have never picked up a chisel before the chance to get their feet wet.

The Scandinavian Carving School has a class in the works for the Swedish Club that will provide introduction to woodworking, and everyone will create their own Scandinavian inspired design. It is specifically for beginners, and the fee to register is $39.19.

The learners will be taught how to use a variety of tools, and safety will be emphasized throughout the session. The facilitators will teach how to carve a design that’s low relief, and those who really enjoy the experience may choose to do a deeper dive by attending the organizer's studio class. It will be held in the venue’s Viking Room, and all of the materials and equipment will be supplied.

Attendees in a workshop or class that includes hands-on learning may be asked to sign safety waivers before they begin. Stationery printers can prepare as well as letterheads and other custom designed documents.

The Swedish Club, which is located at 1920 Dexter Avenue in North Seattle, will be offering this introduction to the basics of woodcarving on August 3rd. It is intended for those age 12 and up, and it will run from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm.
