What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Seattle to welcome return of model railway

For the past 45 years, Seattle has held a model railway display with a winter holidays theme, and this activity will soon be making its return.

The Winterfest Train and Village will once again be delighting all ages. Set up in the Armory Food and Event Hall. It will be open for eight hours on each of its scheduled dates, and the suggested donation for admission is $2.

People who drop by can view the train, lighted buildings, and other parts of the display, and they may even be able to take a turn as an “engineer” driving the train. The Winterfest Train Scavenger Hunt, which is on offer thanks to support from Symetra, will also take place, and entry sheets for this may be collected at the train station. Weekly prizes will be presented, and one Grand Prize winner will be drawn from all those submitted.

To help make the activity accessible to those who have a disability, there will be audio descriptions available. A listening kiosk and QR code that provides audio description, signage that incorporates braille, and printed transcripts of the audio in large font print will be on offer as well. Stationery printers can help to make a function open to all by preparing materials such as visual copies of safety instructions and audio information.

The Winterfest Train and Village will kick off on Friday, November 29. It will be open to the public until December 31.
