Seattle welcomes return of Floating Homes tour
Seattle’s floating homes have become an iconic part of the city, and for the first time in several years, a tour will provide the public with an opportunity to view this “aquatic architecture”.
The Seattle Floating Homes Tour will offer an up close view of the floating homes, and it will be an in person activity. They are located in the city's Eastlake neighborhood, and it will be a self-guided activity.
Those who would like to be part of this experience can choose from two different start times, and while they walk the four block route they can learn more about the history of these dwellings. Entry into ten floating homes will be part of the activity, and many of the owners will be on hand to meet. Each time slot runs for two and a half hours, and tickets must be reserved in advance. Pets will not be permitted, and it is not intended for children.
When they check in for the tour, the attendees will each receive a printed program of information about the homes Stationery printers can supply an assortment of custom materials for a special occasion.
The first Seattle Floating Homes Tour in seven years is scheduled for September 7th. The starting point is 2022 Fairview Avenue E, and disabled persons who would like to participate and who require a registered service animal are asked to contact the tour operator.
