Southern-inspired diner prepares for opening in Kennewick

Three restauranteurs in Kennewick are getting ready for the grand opening of their newest eatery, the Downtown Diner.

The new diner is taking over the spot that housed O'Henry's Go-Go for decades. Prior to being a restaurant in the 1960s, the location was a bakery, ice cream shop, and donut store, all of which were owned by the same family – the Belairs.

The food served at the Downtown Diner will be inspired by the cuisine of the South. The diner's three owners, Amber Woods, Rodrick Gladney, and Robert VanSlycke all have some connection to the South, even though they have become firmly entrenched in the Kennewick community. Gladney plays with the Tri-Cities Fever Indoor football team and Woods and VanSlycke were more recently working at the Mai House in Kennewick.

So far, the grand opening is set for March 17, although there is still plenty of work to be done to get the restaurant ready. The owners could use printing services to spread the word of the opening celebration and to let the public know about the plan for the menu.

The Downtown Diner will be open for three meals a day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A full menu will be offered at breakfast and lunch. For dinner each night, the diner will serve the lunch menu, plus a special entree.
