A local museum is planning a learning workshop for children in the Richland area who wish to learn more about the nature around them.
The STEAM Workshop: Nature’s Engineers has opened registration to families in Richland who are eager to experience an immersive learning experience that will take them deep into the ecosystems and nature native to Washington. The purpose of the event is to take a closer look at the engineers that play a critical role in nature, including beavers, bees, and others.
The workshop will use an interactive format to allow children access to hands-on learning. The event’s guides will shed light on how different creatures and plants work to provide solutions in their natural habitats. Examples of what will be covered include how and why beavers build dams, how plants adapt to change, and the organizational strategy behind how bees build their hives.
In addition to inspecting nature’s builders, families who attend will learn about how nature inspires human solutions in local communities. Organizers can use Print shops to produce promotional materials that build awareness around such events. Children who attend will work through experiments, investigations, and building challenges to grow their minds.
The workshop will be held at the Beach Museum in Richland on Saturday, February 21 from 10:00 AM to noon. Members can attend for free, and the experience is included with general admission.
